Summer Reading Program

Summer Reading Program 2021

The Blue Earth County Library System will begin its annual Summer Reading Program on June 1, 2021, kicking off two months of activities designed to keep children’s minds engaged over the summer break.

The theme for this year’s program is “Trails & Tales,” and children of all ages are invited to take part in a variety of exciting outdoor events and virtual programming, pick up weekly Take-and-Make project kits, and—of course!—read or be read to as much as they can, earning prizes for their reading achievements.

Library staff knows that distance learning posed many challenges to students’ intellectual development over the past year, making it more important than ever to inspire and enable good habits of reading and learning.

The 2021 Summer Reading Program is designed to be a fun, encouraging, and invigorating way for children to continue learning outside the classroom and stay on track for the coming school year.

Register for the program and stop by any of our 3 library locations to pick up your Summer Reading T-shirt!

This summer, there are two ways that you can keep track of your reading:

  1. Login to our Beanstack app to virtually keep track of your reading. Complete the weekly reading goal and stop by any of our 3 library locations to sign up for that week's prize drawings.
  2. Pick up a reading calendar at any of our libraries. Complete the weekly reading goal and stop by any of our 3 library locations to sign up for that week's prize drawings. Turn in your completed calendar after August 2nd, to pick up your completion prize.
