Join us as we kick-off our new "Maker Mondays" series every Monday at the library:
March 2 from 6pm - 7pm: ARTifact Book Box Painting. ARTifact is a local business that provides a large and diverse selection of pottery for all ages. For this event, ARTifact will supply gorgeous book boxes for attendees to design and paint. They will supply all the materials, idea books and assistance needed for inspiration. The completed boxes will be taken back to their location for completion and then delivered back to the library for individual pick-up.Youth under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. No cost. This class is now full. This program is made possible with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund and the people of Minnesota for library legacy activities.
March 9 from 6pm - 7pm: Maple Syrup. Ever been curious about Maple Syrup making? You can learn how and all kinds of good information, like what tools to use, when to tap and all of the other basics of getting started. You’ll be making your own syrup in no time! Youth under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. No cost; no registration.
March 16 from 6pm - 7pm: Mankato Brewery. Have you ever wondered about the Mankato Brewery? What goes on there or where do they get ideas for those funky cans an clever beer names? Visit the library and learn about the brewery from head brewer Chris Collins. Afterward, join us for a tour of the facility. Adults are welcome to attend. No cost; no registration.
March 23 from 6pm - 7pm: Succulent Care and Propagation. Come and enjoy an introduction to succulents and their culture. There will be a short, informative presentation by a local expert, and then attendees will create their own small succulent arrangement. All supplies will be provided. Youth under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. No cost; no registration. Please come early so supplies can be distributed before the meeting starts. Limit of 10.
March 30 from 6pm - 7pm: Lakota Bead Pouches. Learn about the art and tradition of Lakota beadwork as you create your own project. This class will give full instructions for completing a partially beaded pouch that students can use for their own treasures while learning about the cultural significance beadwork art. Youth under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. No cost; no registration. Limit of 15.
